Larry Sinclair National Press Club Conference Video

Karma (Sanskrit: कर्म), or Kamma (Pali: कम्म) is a Sanskrit word and a concept of eastern religions meaning ‘action, effect, destiny.’ In Hinduism and, later, in Buddhism and Sikhism, it is the sum of a person’s actions, regarded as determining that person’s future states of existence. The effects of those deeds actively create all that is to happen and determine every present and future experience, thus completely excluding random chance. Sikhwiki

DBKP found a copy of today’s Larry Sinclair Press Conference at the National Press Club.

It’s been reported that after the press conference Larry Sinclair was led away in handcuffs after being arrested by the D.C. police. According to “Moma”, a poster who is purportedly Sinclair’s mother and who posts on Sinclair’s blog, two U.S. Marshalls approached Sinclair at the end of his scheduled press conference at the National Press Club. Moma wrote that the Marshalls were representing an outstanding warrant from the state of Delaware, that Sinclair’s attorney, Montgomery Blair Sibley, who’s been suspended from practicing law in D.C., reviewed the warrant before D.C. police took Sinclair into custody. Sinclair is being held at a D.C. jailhouse until he can be transported to Delaware.

Sinclair had scheduled his press conference with the promise to finally reveal “proof” of the accusations made by Sinclair against Senator Barack Obama at the end of January. Sinclair had claimed that he had met the then State Senator back in November of 1999, and that the two had engaged in illicit sex and illegal drugs.

“Larry Sinclair’s coming home to roost.”
–R.E. Bierce

Sinclair had hoped to attract the attention of the MSM as he had claimed the national press had turned a blind eye and deaf ear to his claims regarding Obama. Sinclair and Sinclair’s supporters’ meme was that press and assorted bloggers were in Obama’s pocket, going so far as to call some bloggers “the cesspool”. Part of this “cesspool” is DBKP who is not associated with any political organization.

Sinclair, in an interview on The Right Perspective, mentioned that immediately after he posted his original Youtube video at the end of January that he met with a reporter from the Chicago Tribune and laid out his evidence. Sinclair also recounted how he “reported” his story last fall to “MSNBC and NBC”.

Right Perspective Interview February 2, 2008

“I’ve been trying to get this out since last fall and Youtube was pretty much a last resort because it’s all of the sudden it’s just like anything that you have on Barack Obama is ah.. untouchable, it’s like it’s forbidden. You can come out with anything on any other candidate but the “Golden Child” and it’ll be reported and you know, the candidate or the person will be torn apart. I mean people aren’t even asking this man, in fact I’ve got reporters from Chicago, that are from New York, that are telling me that they cannot even get their people close enough to ask the question, that David Axelrod has done an excellent job at keeping them, even from getting close enough to ask him the question. But it’s not just now, it should have come out back last fall when I first reported it to NBC, MSNBC. They ignored it.

After YouTube I’m interviewed by the Chicago Tribune. A reporter from their paper for the last week, just this past week, you know everybody’s verified every bit of information I’ve provided…”

Sinclair contradicts himself. According to Sinclair, if what he says is true, the MSM did listen to his claims, looked at his evidence and evidently found it lacking. A far cry from Sinclair’s later story, that today’s press conference at the National Press Club would be an opportunity for the MSM to finally hear his accusations and evidence against Senator Obama.

An interesting side note: Sinclair claimed that he spent the entire fall in contact with the Obama campaign and that he held off “going public” on his Obama accusations. Sinclair claims he requested that Obama come clean in a public statement that he’d lied about the last time he’d had illegal drugs (according to Sinclair). Sinclair claims that he felt he had to “go public” after the campaign refused to “address this issue”. Yet it’s another contradiction when in the interview he said that he contacted “NBC, MSNBC, and other news reporters” last fall.

In the end, Sinclair was led away by the police, purportedly on an outstanding warrant from Delaware. Sinclair is wanted by the state of Colorado for felony fraud charges. Commenters on Sinclair’s blog, paranoid that Obama supporters were going to “harm” Sinclair, commented that Sinclair was “safer” in the hands of the police while “Moma” wrote that they (the cops) would “kill Sinclair and make it look like a murder”. A call to raise more cash, to help Sinclair make bail, was raised. Supporters of Sinclair have “donated” thousands of dollars to Sinclair’s “legal” fund. Some of Sinclair’s supporters have compared him to Jesus.

There’s a decent typo that you may want to correct: You list his interview as taking place on Feb 2, 2002. Don’t you mean 2008?

    thanks

P.S. If he’s on disability (medicaid, medicare, etc) the ‘thousands of dollars’ that have been donated to his ‘legal’ fund should and could be counted as income and thus he would have to pay back the money he received from SSI or SSDI.

Really? I mean, no… really? And they call Obama’s supporters “Kool-Aid Drinking Zealots?”

I’m no Obama apologist but this guy, his story and his ‘followers’ reek of something sick and scary, man!

LBG in the above statement claims Sinclair’s story is full of contradictions. It is not and Sinclair’s claim that he was “forced to go public” does not contradict his claim he had gone previously to the media. In fact it makes perfect sense when you consider that the media, especially NBC, is totally in the tank for Obama and would never report something like this (unless of course it was about a Republican, then we all know what would have happened)

In order to determine the veracity of this mans claims you need to ask WHY is he doing this? If the media cannot find a quid pro quo then this story will grow. His getting arrested was something most obviously arranged by the left in order to discredit him. However just listening to the man speak would give any reasonable man pause to consider his words. He is not in this for anyhting as far as I can see and unless the Obama people can punch holes in his story it may prove to be a huge problem for him.

Listen to him speak – about what? I listened. I gave him a chance. He’s been saying the same thing for months now, with no real specifics about anything. The issue that made me decide not to pay any more attention to this guy was that at the press conference, he indicated that the main reason for the months/money spent on this issue was to let people know that Obama wasn’t honest about his drug use? Two men from Obama’s church were murdered. Apparently that was an important issue for Sinclair at one time. The sexual orientation issue would be a more significant issue (if it were true) than the drug use. But the only reason for the months and money spent, is to prove that Obama wasn’t honest about his drug use? Phooey. Put the man in prison – and into a mental hospital – where he apparently belongs.

Why was the beginning statement that Larry made at the podium NOT included in the above clip as presented on this web site ? None of his shocking and blunt “facts”
are presented for us to judge ? This is the first time I have ever seen a “right wing” web site softpeddle a Democratic scandal , and just goes to justify to me that BO is in fact a closet Republican quisling candidate , already back peddaling from his promise to get out of Iraq , setting up a requirment that his administration will “get along” with all sides (placating Republicans by weakening or killing Democratic Congress initiatives) . Most of the states Obama won in the primaries are states that are sure to vote Republican in the fall , and he was heavily helped by republicans reregistering as democrats or independants to vote “for” him. Will his refusal of public campain financing keep his donor lists secret so as not to show right wing donations and shrouded “mystery” sources ? The Democratic party has fought for decades for public financing as a firewall against special interest control , and Obama just flips it off .

Dems are probably going to lose control of Congress in 2010 , BO will probably end up as Jimmy Carter , who started with the wind at his back from GOP failures and yet lost it all by the end of his one and only term.

    Joe,

We corresponded with Sinclair from the beginning of his claims. We posted 11 pro-Sinclair stories in the beginning. However, from the beginning, we asked (begged?) for any evidence to back up any of his claims. That was the end of Larry Sinclair trying to “get his story out” via this conduit.

Almost from the time Sinclair released his YouTube video, he began hitting up people who responded to his video for money. Literally, hundreds of pleas for money at various sites he posted on or commented on.

That, IMO is WHY he is doing this. Anyone who’s followed Sinclair’s trail for the last (almost) 5 months–and is not seduced by the promise of an “easy out” against Obama might reach the same conclusion we did: Sinclair might be telling the truth, but the more you delve into it trying to confirm it, the more that is dug up which leads you to directly the opposite conclusion.

In the John Edwards-Rielle Hunter affair, we came to another, altogether different conclusion: we were initially skeptical and the more we dug, the more we realized that the chain of “coincidences” in that story was extraordinary.

The Larry Sinclair episode will be used by the Left and the MSM as a club to beat Republicans over the head for using dirty tricks. The only dirty trick is that more members of the right-wing blogosphere didn’t take the time to check out Sinclair’s story instead of taking a career conman at his word.

    Still, it’s been somewhat entertaining.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by and comment.

Sinclair’s handouts at the press conference is going to go up later today. You did well to put “facts” in quotes. We feel nothing new was presented. In fact, the information that Larry handed out yesterday–as is the case with most things Sinclair–directly contradicted statements he has previously made in other interviews.

Although we will present Sinclair’s handouts and document his previous statements, we hold out little hope that that information will change the True Believers in Sinclair. It’s enough to make us revise our belief that, in Ann Coulter’s words, “Liberals don’t read.”

Neither do some conservatives. Bringing down Obama has obsessed some people to the point that any information that gets in the way of their mindset comes from “the enemy”. Even though we’ve published roughly 54 articles which could be classified as “unfriendly to Obama”–and not one pro-Obama story–we were branded “Obamabots” by Sinclair. It was the label he used for anyone who didn’t agree with him and his Eternal Larry Telethon–even though, in Sinclair’s case, he knew that we’d defended him at first.

Oh well, that’s the price of education, I suppose.

Good Lord, man, would you not call the name of the Limo driver and the phone numbers presented as evidence? Have they been checked out or not? If not, why not? Just what is your definition of “evidence” anyway?

    Well Joe,

    Feel free to play detective.

Sinclair claimed P. Multani was the limo driver right after he released the Youtube video. Then he retracted it… said this wasn’t the name of the guy. Then he had his “press conference” where he said that this was the first time he was “releasing” the name of the limo driver.

So which statement from Sinclair do you believe?

Sinclair claims he talked to Donald Young. And gave everyone “his” phone numbers to prove it. He did not release any
of the so-called text messages from “Young”.

Sinclair claims he was living in Texas at one point when “Young” contacted him. Sinclair was arrested on a warrant from Delaware immediately following the press conference. The charge from Delaware indicates he was in that state during the time frame he was supposed to be in Texas.

Feel free to contact the limo driver, Joe. Sinclair promised to have a signed affidavit months ago. Never materialized. You’d think if Sinclair really wanted to present his “evidence” after five months of posturing he’d have had that limo driver at the press conference front and center.
