All the many pictures of George W. Bush depicted as an ape or looking like an ape were okay and “funny” but doing the same to a guy who looks just as much like a monkey is racist. I love the illogic and inconsistency of the left. It is amazing they didn’t see this coming and just decide to keep their stupid mouths shut now that it’s happened. An image like this was inevitable in the spirit of the bad karma set by America’s left.

Louis Farrakhan has been been roundly and justifiably condemned for his antisemitism by everyone: left, right and center for at least a couple of decades. No one serious defends him. He doesn’t seem to mind.

So bar owner Mike Norman should man up and take the criticism, just as Farrakhan has.

I have also seen the many pictures comparing Bush to apes, but I find it hypocritical that we can sit there and find those amusing and then in turn say that the one comparison of Obama to Curious George is racist. It all had to with the similarity in a facial gestures of Obama and Curious George, as did the pictures comparing Bush’s facial gestures to many other monkeys. Stop making everything into a racial issue.

So some little girl said that Obama reminded her of her hero George and called Rush. George W reminded us of an ape as well, but not a cartoon but the actual pictures of chimps. I guess he is too wrinkly to remind one of the cartoon chimp.

As for who looks more like apes, White people or Black people, I once decided to prove all the biases false and put in a bunch of apes into the online programs that pull up the celebrities that have the most similar features to the pictures submitted. Guess what, the pictures pulled where equally of Black and White people. No bias in a computer program.

The difference between depicting Bush as a monkey and depicting Obama as a monkey is that Obama is black, and this country has a long history of treating blacks as inhuman or subhuman. This includes your stupid self. Very few are the remaining direct descendants of slaves, peoples who’s mother or father were ever slaves in america. African slavery has it’s original roots in the lifestyles of Africans, many northern african nations, with original establishment essentially being domestic partnerships. A successful African with lots of sheep or goat would be able to afford many wives. Many of these slaves that were part of the slave trade are what is considered white in america today. This african slave trade has it’s first documented evidence dating back to the 7th-8th century, with its primary participants located throughout Zanzibar, Aloa, Arabia, up to Persia which became the primary trade posts and routes until the western world accepted slavery. Since the catholic church, which had a frightening amount of influence in european society, put a ban on slavery most of (white) europe involved in early slave trade ended up victims not contributors. The word slave itself comes from the root Slav, the group of white pagans enslaved for hundreds of years in Arab ruled West Asia, North Africa, East Africa, and some parts of europe. The majority of slaves traded across the Mediterranean region were predominantly of European origin from the 7th to 15th centuries. The slave trade was monopolized by Iberian Jews, Radhanites, who would ship people from pagan Central Europe through Christian Western Europe to Muslim countries in Al-Andalus and Africa. It wasn’t until after camels were introduced in Arabia in the 10th century as transportation that Africans started being taking across the sahara, maghreb, and mashreq deserts, and slave trade posts were founded in west africa. It is likely the exposure of slave systems already taking place in africa and arabia and the competition that was created forced european society to jump on board.
The first African slaves in the americas wasn’t in North America, and it wasn’t until around 1500. Slave trade was criminalized throughout europe, starting with france, while during that time africa lacked in reigning power and organization to be able to outlaw anything completely. When britain, a integral part of the trade agreements with african leaders, outlawed the slave trade they also went to the trouble to have african leaders to agree to promote the end of slave trade and sign the document, finished in 1827. Many African leaders were outraged and refused to sign the document, knowing the economies of many african states depended upon the slave trade.
Slave trade was criminalized in america in 1820. Slavery was abolished in the america in 1863 at the end of the Civil War, by 1970 there were no slave in america. The last people with notable evidence that they WERE slaves in america as you eluded to being, died in the 1950s.

I never owned a slave and wouldn’t want to if it was somehow legal. If I want to say Obama is incompetent as a leader and that he looks like a monkey, im entitled to do so. If I want to run a white only miss america, I would say that is pretty much racist. Black miss america is pretty much racist foundation. The only excuse I can think of where one would WANT to separate their racial identity into an exclusive beauty contest is fear of the competition. Scholarships that are given to black groups exclusively should have an equal contribution as ones that go to every other racial background, but white only scholarships don’t exist that I know of. You guys get a lot of benefits white males don’t get. In current society, in the social and financial perspective people have the most advantages as an african american. So, which the anti-logic of political correctness, and if you take a look at the long course of history, arabs should be slaves to both whites and blacks to make up for starting slavery and promoting it as a profitable trade in the first place. It’s obvious overtime and with liberal stupid logic Arabs owe Africans much more than whites so, and balcks and arabs both owe certain whites more than blacks owe whites. Bottom line is black people need to accept were there are now and stop living in the past. Totally insensitive, I suppose that you are some kind of superstar, maybe a Brain Surgeon, perhaps an astronaut…no I am sure that you are some average Joe who has not truly succeeded either. you probably blame your Dad or Mom, or perhaps your teachers, or maybe your boss for your failures. Its true that many Blacks could do better, but they are embedded in a cultural group that was devastated by the USA.

American has a history of Racism and this history lingers a long time. The USA decultured a group of people and has failed to facilitate their full re-entry into society. Slavery was really not that many generations ago and overt racism has jest been phased out over the past 2 generations. It takes time for communities to move forward and progress. I am a White Canadian who was raised in a low-middle income town where almost everyone had a blue collar job. The vast majority (99%) of those people I graduated high school with went on to the same type of lifestyle as their parents. When most Black people were low level labourers and waitresses due to prejudice only one or two generations ago, why do you expect that their children should somehow break the mold and launch themselves past their cultural history. You suggest that because they were put into mass apartment buildings of low income households that these people with a substandard Education and limited opportunity should have risen up and somehow made a utopia. Of course they did not, no more than low income, poorly educated whites have done (I have seen the wonderful trailer parks of the USA – Impressive).

You may call those of us with this opinion Lunk Headed Liberals, but I live in a country with higher wages, a much better economy (22 years of straight growth due to good governance), free health care, better education, more ethnic diversity, better productivity, MUCH lower crime rates, less pollution per capita, and FAR MORE opportunity for the average Joe. We really do look down upon America and wonder why they continue to have a society that subsidized the rich at a cost to the poor. What is so funny about it, is that it is the poor and uneducated who continue to vote in the governments that really do create an oppressive situation. In many ways slavery still exists in the USA, its the only country that pays people that little to work and that does not provide them with health care….oh wait, I should say the only developed country…although I do wonder if that label is deserved sometimes.

I end with one last comment, the 12 year old girl is totally right, Obama looks like curious George – he really does, I looked. Its a fine thing for a 12 year old who does not have the benefit of understanding the context to say, but those of us with a decent education are cognizant of the fact that this comment is unacceptable due to the history of Slave owning countries like the USA. I had a very tough childhood, moving every year or two because we got evicted because we couldn’t pay the rent. I had the same opportunity in public schools that blacks, hispanics and every other minority has. Now I enjoy a $50,000 per year base salary plus commission. I guess the difference is that I payed attention at school and graduated. Not to mention, I didn’t have the NAACP, United Negro College Fund, The Ron Brown Scholar Program, Malcolm X Scholarship for Exceptional Courage, Agnes Jones Jackson Scholarship, Earl G. Graves Scholarship, African American Future Achievers Scholarship Program, … need i go on? I had to get loans and pay them back.

Blacks and minorities complain about equal rights, we give them special rights and every opportunity to excel, it’s their own fault if they want to stay in the ghetto. There are many blacks and other minorities that are very successful that came from the same upbringing as 75% of the criminals behind bars.

I’m surprised that no one has mentioned the fact that ‘monkey’ used to be a racial slur for black people – which makes it pretty much _not ok_ (even if Obama gets the opportunity to make history in the Oval office) to take the comparison any further than a sweet little girl’s innocent observation.

That is, assuming it was such, and since I don’t know where she was from or anything about her background, it’s also possible that she has already been influenced by the beliefs of those who may not be so innocent. Much as we’d like to wish it away – racism still exists in this country, and denying it doesn’t help anyone.

And there actually _are_ still slaves, even in our beloved America, and many of them are women: domestic workers smuggled in from overseas, young women and girls promised a new life and forced into prostitution. All is not equal or just in ‘this great nation’ that so values ‘equality and justice for all.’

I did not jest at his Texas orientation, his Christian beliefs, or even his distinct accent. So yes, you can make fun of Obama’s personal or political image. BUT DONT MAKE FUN OF HIS HERITAGE. Because that is what is wrong with America. Instead of seeing a person for who they are, we see them as a demographic. To joke about one’s heritage is to hurt them, their people, and this country.

Lastly, we should try to give Obama a chance. The Legislature certainly has not. If the American people can give Obama their support, then maybe politicians will. He has potential to do something great. He isn’t the same old politician. He is new. A new face and a new opinion. And a new America. A better America. He is not the “first Black president”. HE IS THE PRESIDENT! so lets give him a shot. It can’t hurt.
