Was Barack Obama’s latest whopper–about his uncle liberating Auschwitz and then hiding in the attic for six months: was it a prevarication or a gaffe? What others have said:

“In one of his more egregious and easily demonstrated lies, made even more so by the day he decided to let it loose on, Obama has rewritten WWII history such that the allies liberated Auschwitz.”

Fairy tales? Shades of Bill Clinton!

What politician lets a little thing like the truth get into the way of a good story out on the campaign trail? And Barack Obama–all the talk about The Messiah aside–is nothing if not a politician.

His latest fairy tale is the one about the “Uncle Who Liberated Auschwitz And Had to Spend Six Months in the Attic”.

At least Hillary’s tall tale–about “How I Braved Sniper Fire and Lived to Tell About It”–had a happy ending.

Was the latest fairy tale spun by Obama a “gaffe” or a “prevarication”? We’ll let the reader come to their own conclusion after watching what Obama said–and the spin that will accompany it a day or so later.

It’s not dangerous for Barack Obama to prevaricate on the campaign trail: there’s plenty of “New Media” to check the facts and call him on it. Then Americans can make up their minds about the junior senator’s fitness to be president.

The dangerous part of the equation: the Mainstream Media, which acts as the PR wing of the Obama campaign. Excusing, spinning, explaining away–while continuing the charade that they are an impartial, adversarial press–and most of all, NEVER asking Obama any hard questions.

Impartial?

Anyone who follow the Mainstream press can make their own judgments on that. But, the MSM surely is adversarial: to anyone who threatens their candidate.

That’s the part that particularly interesting.

By this time next week, Obama’s latest story will have been neatly cleaned up by a Mainstream press interested more in partisan hackery than reporting.

But, perhaps that is too harsh an assessment. Most of the MSM, according to survey after survey, is overwhelmingly liberal: they, no doubt, identify with Barack Obama.

And who knows?

Maybe they had an uncle at Auschwitz, too?
