Viagra Vote Buying Alleged in Bangkok
Allegations arose of vote buying in the upcoming December election in Thailand. Here in the United States past allegations included cigarettes and booze. In Thailand, it’s over-the- counter Viagra.
Sayan Nopcha, a campaigner for the People’s Power Party in Pathum Thai province just north of Bangkok, said the drug used to treat sexual dysfunction in men was being distributed to elderly male voters at social functions.[1]
A new law in Thailand punishes both the giver and the taker of vote buying shenanigans. The giver can be disqualified, their party disbanded. The taker, off to a one-to-ten-year prison stretch.
A hard price to pay.
